PDF editor

Why this matters

The ImmCase PDF editor lets you annotate, fill out, and sign PDFs directly in the browser — no Adobe Acrobat, no printing and scanning. Particularly useful for:

  • Filling out IRCC PDF forms that aren't official IMM ones.
  • Annotating an IRCC PDF to mark where the client should sign.
  • Highlighting parts of a letter to discuss with the team.
  • Combining several PDFs into one (to send a document package).
  • Digitally signing a PDF before sending it to the client.

Open a PDF for editing

  1. In the file manager, find the PDF.
  2. Click on it or menu → Open with PDF Editor.
  3. The editor opens in the browser.

Available tools

Side or top toolbar with:

  • Text — add text blocks anywhere on the page.
  • Fill fields — if the PDF has interactive form fields, it detects them and lets you type.
  • Highlight — yellow (or any color) highlighter over text.
  • Underline / Strikethrough — to emphasize or mark as obsolete.
  • Draw — freehand strokes with the mouse.
  • Signature — add your digital signature (you load it once, reuse it).
  • Stamp — preloaded stamps ("Received", "Approved", "Draft").
  • Insert image — to add logos or screenshots.

Fill out a PDF form

If the PDF has form fields (boxes, radio buttons, checkboxes):

  1. Click on a field → it becomes editable.
  2. Type or check.
  3. Tab to the next.

ImmCase auto-detects fields. For PDFs without interactive fields (scanned forms, for example), use the Text tool to type over.

Sign a PDF

  1. Signature tool → Create signature.
  2. Three options:
  3. Draw with mouse or trackpad.
  4. Type your name — ImmCase uses a handwriting-style font.
  5. Upload a scanned image of your signature.
  6. Place the signature where it goes on the PDF.
  7. Save.

Once created, your signature is saved in your profile for reuse.

Combine several PDFs into one

  1. In the editor, File menu → Insert pages.
  2. Pick the PDF to add and where to insert it (at the end, at the start, after page X).
  3. Pages combine.
  4. Save as with a new name.

Useful for assembling a case's evidence package (passport + proofs + letters + etc.) into a single PDF to send to IRCC.

Reorder and delete pages

Side panel of thumbnails:

  • Drag a thumbnail to move that page to another position.
  • Right-clickDelete page.
  • Rotate pages (useful when the client scanned upside down).

Save

Like OnlyOffice, changes save into the same file. To keep the original PDF unchanged, use Save as with a new name.

Watch out for

  • Don't edit a PDF you've already digitally signed. The signature invalidates if content is altered afterward. If you need changes, make them before signing.
  • Large PDFs are slow. If you have a 500-page PDF, the editor takes time to open and save. Consider splitting it.
  • Not every IRCC PDF is editable here. Some IRCC forms have protection. For official IMM forms use the eForms module, not this editor.

Where to next

  • WebDAV — if you prefer to edit with your local Adobe Acrobat.
  • PDF templates — generate PDFs from pre-built templates.
