Companies¶
Why this matters¶
Most immigration cases involve a company in addition to the applicant: the employer in an LMIA, the school in a study permit, the organization sponsoring an application, or the company where the sponsor works in a family application. ImmCase stores those organizations in the Companies module so you can reuse them across cases without re-typing the data.
Create a company¶
- Sidebar → Companies → Create.
- Fill in the required fields:
- Legal name — the full registered name, exactly as it appears on official documents.
- Country — where it's incorporated.
- Fill in what applies:
- Doing-business-as (DBA) name if it differs from legal.
- Type — employer, school, sponsor, other. Your administrator defines the options.
- Tax / Business number depending on country.
- Official address, Website, Main phone, General contact email.
- Save.
The system assigns a folio (for example COM042) so you can reference it quickly.
Link a company to a case¶
A company by itself isn't very useful — its value comes from being linked to cases. Two ways:
- From the case: open the case → Edit → Company field → search and pick.
- From the company: open the company → Related cases tab → Create a new case that gets linked automatically.
The same company can be on many cases at once (an employer with several LMIAs in process, a school with several students).
Contacts inside a company¶
Inside a company, the Contacts tab lists the people you deal with at that organization (employer HR, school registrar, sponsor's lawyer). They are not applicants — they're interlocutors. Useful so you don't forget who to address an email to.
To add a contact: Contacts tab → Create → name, title, email, phone → Save.
Edit and delete¶
Same as applicants: Edit (upper-right of the detail) changes data; Delete uses soft-delete and an administrator can restore.
Watch out for¶
- Don't duplicate companies. Before creating, search by name. Long commercial names especially get typed differently every time (with/without "S.A. de C.V.", with/without "Inc."). If you find a duplicate, use Find duplicates to merge them.
- Don't confuse company with individual sponsor. If the applicant's sponsor is a person (spouse, adult child), that person belongs as an Applicant or related contact, not as a Company. Company is only for organizations.
- The legal name must be exact. IRCC compares against their records. If the registered name is "Construcciones del Norte, S.A. de C.V." and you type "Construcciones del Norte SA", IRCC may reject the match.
